The electronics retail chain POWER has decided to implement Flow Retail as its new POS platform across all 230 of its stores in Norway, Denmark, and Finland.

Rolling out in over 230 stores

POWER has used ElGuide Retail as its POS system for over 20 years — across both owned and franchise stores — and has been very satisfied with the platform.

When EM Software Partners (the company behind ElGuide) changed ownership in 2021, the platform was given an official end-of-life date. At the same time, the company rebranded to Flow Retail and immediately began building the next-generation POS system: Flow Retail POS.

POWER has followed the development of Flow Retail closely, and after a smooth and thorough testing process, the group decided — just before the end of 2022 — to move all of its stores over to Flow Retail in the years ahead.

“We’re truly grateful for the trust POWER has shown us — both historically and looking forward. Rolling out a new platform to a retail chain of this size is a major project, but we know POWER well, and this is exactly what we specialize in.”

Nationwide rollout across three countries

POWER is a large retail chain with over 230 stores across multiple markets: around 130 in Norway, 60+ in Denmark, and 40 in Finland. All locations will transition to the new POS platform.

The first pilot stores will launch within the first year, and the goal is to have the entire rollout completed by 2025.

Continuing a strong, long-term partnership

Despite a great long-term relationship with Flow Solutions, POWER still explored the market for alternatives before making a final decision.

“It was a great moment when POWER chose to continue our long-standing partnership and move forward with Flow Retail across all stores,” says Roy-André Tollefsen, CEO of Flow Retail.

“Flow Retail, formerly EM Software, has been a rock-solid partner in retail tech for our stores for over 20 years. With their new generation retail platform, we’re confident they’re the right partner for the years ahead.”

Built for seamless ERP integration

POWER uses SAP as its ERP platform and is running several parallel projects to modernize and unify all sales channels — and to equip store staff with better data to serve customers more efficiently.

One of the key focus areas of the rollout is to establish a strong and efficient connection between Flow Retail and SAP.

“Flow Retail is built for in-store efficiency and tight ERP integration — with systems like SAP or Microsoft Business Central,” says Atle Reitan, Product Manager at Flow Retail. “We have deep experience in ERP integration, and combining that with modern thinking around UX, flexibility, and e-commerce is exactly what makes Flow Retail stand out.”

Notably, the electronics retailer Eplehuset also chose Flow Retail in 2022 — mainly for its flexible ERP integration and modern, user-friendly interfaces in the stores.

Ready to support all of POWER’s retail needs

Over many years, ElGuide Retail has supported everything from daily store operations to logistics, customer service, and back-office tasks. Flow Retail will not only cover all of this, but introduce improvements — especially in terms of simplifying and improving the customer experience.

For example, POWER’s loyalty program will be tightly integrated into every part of the sales process. Other improvements include deeper e-commerce integration, streamlined click & collect, service sales, and more.

As a cloud-based SaaS platform, Flow Retail is constantly updated with new features to improve performance, usability, and profitability.

Connecting online and offline retail

Flow Solutions has extensive experience in e-commerce, including as Norway’s largest provider of the Shopware platform. With Flow Retail, POWER will tie their webshops and physical stores even closer together — from click & collect to in-store returns of online purchases.

“Our biggest competitive advantage is that we combine deep POS expertise with industry-leading e-commerce delivery through Shopware. No one else in our segment offers both at this level.”

– Roy-Andre Tollefsen, Head of eCommerce, Flow Retail

POS tailored for retail chains

Flow Retail is designed specifically for multi-store retail chains and supports an unlimited number of stores — though it also works well for single-store businesses.

The platform is built with integration in mind, allowing it to work seamlessly with any existing ERP system — without changing the core business processes like purchasing or accounting.
